Welcome to the International Grumiaux competition for young violinists website!
We are very pleased to announce that the 12th edition of the Grumiaux International Competition for Young Violinists will take place from 7 to 10 March 2019 in Brussels, in the prestigious Royal Conservatory of Brussels (Dutch-speaking section, KCB), in the heart of the Belgian capital. The preliminary rounds will take place in the building "Kleine Zavel", 4 Place du Petit Sablon. The final rounds will take place in the Concert Hall, 30 rue de la Régence.
The 2019 edition brings us a small novelty: a pre-selection by video will be performed. The purpose of this pre-selection is to not exceed a global number of participants, i.e. 70 all categories combined, in order to ensure optimal conditions for the participants and the jury. Indeed, in recent years, the Grumiaux Competition is a victim of its success and the jury has sometimes listened to more than 90 participants in 2 days of competition. We therefore wish to slightly limit the total number of participants, so that we do not have to reduce the programs of the candidates, and the jury can take time to listen to each participant with the greatest attention.
Registrations will therefore open earlier, from August 15, 2018. The program is modified and available >> here <<.
Some points of the regulation are subject to change: the full rules are available >> here <<.
For any additional questions, we invite you to consult our section >> Frequently Asked Questions << before sending us an email.
The competition will be closed by the Laureates's Concert, which will take place on March 10, 2019 at 07pm in the main hall of the Royal Conservatory of Brussels.
