Welcome to the International Grumiaux competition for young violinists website!
We are very pleased to announce that the 14th edition of the Grumiaux International Competition for Young Violinists will take place from 6 to 9 April 2022 in Brussels, in the prestigious Royal Conservatory of Brussels (Dutch-speaking section, KCB), in the heart of the Belgian capital. The preliminary and final rounds will take place in the Concert Hall, 30 rue de la Régence - 1000 Brussels.
For the 2022 edition, like previous éditions, a pre-selection by video will be performed. The purpose of this pre-selection is to not exceed a global number of participants, i.e. 70 all categories combined, in order to ensure optimal conditions for the participants so that the jury can take time to listen to each participant with the greatest attention.
The most important objective of our organization is to give the opportunity to young musicians to perform on stage. This is why, despite the pandemic, we will do everything possible to ensure that the competition takes place in person.
However, the situation will be re-analyzed on February 15, 2022, when the selected participants are announced:
- if the Belgian government measures do not allow the event to be held in person in the hall of the Royal Conservatory of Brussels, Belgium,
- if more than half of the participants cannot travel (because they come from countries whose government measures do not authorize travel to Belgium, or because the Belgian government does not authorize the entry of travelers from their country),
Then the 2022 edition will be organized online. Practical details will be announced at that time.
Regulations have been modified and can be found >> here << .
For any additional questions, we invite you to consult our section >> Frequently Asked Questions << before sending us an email.
The competition will be closed by the Laureates's Concert, which will take place on April 9, 2022 at 07pm in the main hall of the Royal Conservatory of Brussels.
We also have the great pleasure to announce the entry into office of the new artistic director George Tudorache for the 2022 edition. The president of the jury for this edition is Igor Tkatchouk, founder of the project.
